The College of Basic Education is the first college of the UoH regarding its establishment by a ministerial decree issued in 2008. Prior to annexing it to the University of Halabja, it was a college of University of Sulaimani and consisted of only one department (Department of Social Sciences).

Our college

On behalf of department heads, lecturers, employees of the College of Basic Education, I welcome the college website visitors. I hope you find what you are looking for concerning the college's historical background (which is the university’s foundation stone), its structure, activities and services. The College of Basic Education, together with the other colleges, attempts to achieve the university objectives in advancing students’ level of knowledge which lead to advancing the intellectual level of the society as well as developing Halabja and Kurdistan through integration of university and the society. In addition to such that, the college attempts to develop teachers enriched in knowledge and science in the fields that the college offers (Social Sciences, English Language, and Arabic Language). Lastly, our college tries to implant nationalism, patriotism, sense of collaboration and helpfulness in our students so that they become loyal citizens to the nation through cognitive, physical, intellectual development which are achieved through our college’s teachers’ continuous assistance. I also extend my thankfulness and appreciation to our dear employees who serve and treat students and lecturers with ultimate respect and modesty. Finally, I wish our dear students everlasting success and a bright future.

About the College of Basic Education

The College of Basic Education is the first college of the UoH regarding its establishment by a ministerial decree issued in 2008. Prior to annexing it to the University of Halabja, it was a college of University of Sulaimani and consisted of only one department (Department of Social Sciences).

Our Vision

The vision of the college is seen in preparing well-educated teachers with university degrees who have adequate knowledge in science and education to serve the overall process of learning in basic education since this stage is considered as the foundation stone of human consciousness and development. Additionally, the college aspires to implant and develop Kurdish nationalism in students since eventually they become teachers and implement teaching to children.

Our Mission

The College Mission is to bring about a new generation of individuals who are knowledgeable, well-educated which can be a good source for innovative potential within society. It also directs its students to be well-aware and well-equipped with technological advancements and put it into practice within the community they reside in. Such missions are always attainable with the assistance of humanitarian, material and psychological potentials as well as the support of the university president and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

College Council

What is the College Council and what does it do?

The College Council is composed of the Dean of the College, Heads of Departments, Employes Representatives, and, when necessary, Student Representatives. The council is responsible for discussing all scientific and administrative matters within the college, including the determination of work and rest schedules, examination schedules, and admission issues.

The College Council performs the following functions:

  • Recommending admission requirements for academic departments and overseeing their implementation after approval.
  • Recommending the number of students to be admitted at the beginning of each academic year.
  • Proposing plans for the establishment of new scientific departments and branches, as well as suggesting the creation, merger, or dissolution of existing scientific departments or branches.
